SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a pair of victories this past weekend, Syracuse tennis climbs into the top 50 in the Oracle/ITA National Team Rankings. The Orange check in at No. 43 as a team, the highest the team has been ranked since May 5, 2016 when it jumped to No. 25.
The Orange moved to 6-1 on the season after defeating Boston College (5-2) and Yale (6-0) over the weekend. Syracuse's sweep of Yale was the third shutout win for the Orange this season, while 'Cuse picked up its first conference victory with the win over Boston College.
The doubles pair of Gabriela Knutson and Miranda Ramirez come in at No. 19 in the doubles rankings, in addition to a No. 18 ranking for Knutson in the singles poll. This is the second consecutive week that Syracuse has placed a duo in the top-20 nationally.
The duo is currently 4-0 on the season at the No. 1 doubles position, topping their Boston College and Yale opponents, 6-4 and 6-3, respectively. Knutson is one of two Orange with a perfect record on the season, posting a 5-0 mark at No. 1 singles through the first six matches. The junior has appeared in the top-40 in four consecutive singles rankings this season.
Ramirez, Knutson and the rest of the Orange head to Providence, Rhode Island to take on Brown on Saturday, Feb. 25. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
