Lane, Drummond Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Miranda Drummond of the women's basketball team and Matt Lane of the men's lacrosse team have been named this week's scholar athletes of the week.
Drummond is redshirt junior hailing from just down I-81 in Binghamton, N.Y. She was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll in her first year at Syracuse and was tabbed to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in both her semesters with the Orange. Drummond is a health and exercise science major in the School of Education.
A forward on the women's basketball team, Drummond is averaging 14.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in 30 games played with the Orange this season. She has scored in double-figures in 22 games this season and was named ACC Player of the Week on Jan. 8 following a 38-point performance against Florida State.
Lane is a redshirt senior from Glen Ridge, N.J. and is striving towards a master's degree in advertising from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications He has earned a spot on the ACC Academic Honor Roll four times and has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in seven of his eight semester completed at Syracuse.
The redshirt senior has appeared in all five games for the Orange this season and tallied his first goal of the year in the season opener against Binghamton. Lane has carded two assists this season and scooped up three groundballs as part of the Orange midfield.
Drummond and the women's basketball team are in action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Oklahoma State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Lane and the men's lacrosse team are headed to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers on Sunday afternoon.
