4/10/2018 11:16:00 AM | Men's Lacrosse
After securing the Kraus-Simmons trophy in their victory over Hobart, Syracuse earned the No. 6 and No. 7 rank in the USILA and Maverik Media polls respectively, up from their No. 8 mark in each last week.
Tuesday night's victory marked three-straight wins for the Orange, providing them with momentum entering tonight's matchup against Cornell, who also moved up in the polls this week, to No. 11 in the USILA poll and No. 9 in the media poll. The Big Red are the highest ranking team remaining on the Orange's schedule.
Maryland leads off this week receiving 47 first place votes and 459 points in the USILA Coaches Poll. Denver (407), Albany (394), who received one first place vote, Duke (394), Johns Hopkins (379), and Syracuse (327) follow the Terps.
The Orange have already played 3 of the top-5 teams this season, having already faced the Great Danes, Blue Devils and Blue Jays. 'Cuse has also played No. 7 Rutgers, No. 10 Virginia and No. 14 Notre Dame and has games scheduled with Navy (No. 18) and a North Carolina squad that is receiving votes in addition to Tuesday's matchup with No. 11 Cornell.
In the Maverik Media Poll, Albany (551), Denver (517), Johns Hopkins (507), Duke (505), and Yale (424) follow No. 1 Maryland (594). Syracuse (409) trails behind No. 6 Yale by just 15 points.
Cornell is hosting the Orange tonight at Schoellkopf Field. The game will begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised on Ivy League Digital Network. 'Cuse returns home on Saturday in its ACC finale to host North Carolina.
Individual game tickets are available online at cuse.com/tickets, over the phone at 888-DOME-TIX, or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
