Syracuse SAAC Recognized for Investment in the Community

A commitment to the community drives the Syracuse University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In 2017-18 the SAAC raised $4,400 for OttoTHON, organized and conducted two bone marrow drives on campus, participated in bystander prevention training, and organized a leadership workshop for freshmen student-athletes. For their efforts to aid the community, the SAAC was honored with the One University Award by the Office of Student Activities. The award recognizes exceptional efforts to bring University stakeholders together for a common purpose, supporting the mission of One University by efficiently and effectively working toward cultivating a collaborative campus community. It is the second time in three years that the SAAC has earned the One University Award.
Syracuse Athletics Student-Athlete Engagement Director Mark Trumbo was recognized as the Advisor of the Year for student organizations. Trumbo leads the SAAC and is responsible for the S-Project for student-athlete development.
Syracuse cheer captain and senior, Amanda Spoleti was honored with the Diversity and Inclusion Award for her work in the Syracuse community. A member of the National Down Syndrome Society, Spoleti hosted a field day event for the NDSS community with Syracuse student-athletes during the summer of 2017.
