SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three-time All-American and two-time Big 12 Player of the Year Vanessa Shippy has been added to the Orange's softball coaching staff.
"We are excited to have Vanessa join the Orange family," said head coach Mike Bosch. "She is one of the best young softball coaches in the game and she will make an immediate impact within our program."
This past spring Shippy wrapped up one of the most prolific careers in Oklahoma State softball history where she started every game in her career. Shippy owns 12 school records, including highest career on-base percentage (.613) and the single-season record for most runs scored (73). Shippy is only the third Big 12 player to earn conference Player of the Year honors twice. She is also a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and the first player to earn Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors twice.
Shippy was as a 2018 top-10 finalist for both USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and the Senior CLASS award.
In April, Shippy became the first Cowgirl to be drafted by the National Pro Fastpitch league before opting to sign with Scrap Yard Fastpitch, an independent professional team in Houston, Texas.
A skilled clinician, Shippy has worked at various collegiate camps and clinics and has coached youth teams.
A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Shippy was the 2014 Gatorade Idaho Softball Player of the Year. She earned her degree in marketing and finance from Oklahoma State in 2018.
