GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second consecutive week, three Syracuse football student-athletes earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. Senior quarterback Eric Dungey, junior defensive lineman Alton Robinson and junior wide receiver/kick returner Sean Riley were recognized Monday for their performances in Syracuse's 51-21 victory against Connecticut on Saturday.
Â
The ACC Quarterback of the Week, Dungey accounted for 363 total yards and five of the Orange's six touchdowns. He completed 21-of-27 (.778) passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 16 times for 77 yards and three scores. Dungey's three rushing touchdowns equaled his career high and matched the Syracuse single-game record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. He has 24 career rushing touchdowns, which is tied for the seventh-most in team history, and tied with Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas for 10th all-time amongst ACC signal-callers.
Â
Robinson earned the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week award after recording five tackles, including a career-best three sacks for a loss of 15 yards. The three-sack effort is the best single-game performance by an Orange defender since Brandon Sharpe had four versus Pitt in 2012.
Â
Robinson's effort helped hold UConn quarterback David Pindell to 227 total yards in the contest. Pindell had been averaging 330 yards of offense per game prior to Saturday.
Â
The ACC Specialist of the Week, Riley tallied a career-high 290 all-purpose yards, including 159 combined kick return yards. He totaled 110 yards on three punt returns (36.7 avg.), including a 69-yard touchdown in the third quarter that extended the Orange lead to 38-14. He also ran back two kickoffs for 49 yards (24.5 avg.).
Â
Riley's punt return TD was the first of his career and the first for Syracuse since the 2015 season. His average of 36.7 yards per punt return against the Huskies is the fourth-best, single-game mark in Orange history (min. 3 returns).
Â
The Orange return to action Saturday, Sept. 29 when they visit Death Valley for a noon showdown with No. 3 Clemson.
