Orange Begin Busy Friday With Media

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim started off his 44th media day as head coach of his alma mater with a question and answer session in the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center.Â
Players and staff were made available to the media and the official 2019-20 team picture was taken in the session that lasted approximately 75 mintues. Still to come was the club's Orange vs. White scrimmage scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Dome. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
Syracuse's 16-man roster includes one returning starter -- redshirt senior Elijah Hughes, a forward. The Orange do have others with first-string experience, including junior forward Marek Dolezaj, sophomore guard Buddy Boeheim and sophomore guard Jalen Carey. Junior center Bourama Sidibe, junior guard Howard Washington and sophomore forward Robert Braswell round out the group of returning scholarship players.
An incoming class of five freshmen features guards Brycen Goodine and Joseph Girard III, forward Quincy Guerrier, and centers John Bol Ajak and Jesse Edwards.
The Orange were able to get an early start on preparation for the 2019-20 campaign with an August trip to Italy. Syracuse played four exhibition games in the 10-day tour that included stops in Como, Venice, Florence and Rome.
Syracuse has upcoming exhibition games with Daemen (Oct. 26) and Carleton (Oct. 28) in the Dome. The regular-season opener features defending national champion Virginia in the Dome on Nov. 6.
Season tickets, nine-game and six-game partial plans, and individual game tickets are available online (cuse.com/tickets), by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) and at the Dome Box Office (Ensley Athletic Center).
