Shemanova Named ACC Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse captain Polina Shemanova earned Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball Player of the Week honors after her performances against North Carolina and NC State on the road this past weekend. This marks the sophomore's first weekly honor of the season. She earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors three times in 2018.
Shemanova posted 23 kills, nine digs, and three service aces in a 3-1 loss at North Carolina Friday night. The St. Petersburg, Russia native followed that with her seventh double-double of the season (22 kills, 10 digs) along with three blocks in a 3-0 victory at NC State Sunday.
Shemanova leads the conference in kills (301), kills per set (4.85), points (344.0) and points per set (5.55). The outside hitter's 0.39 service aces per set ranks fourth in the ACC. She leads the Syracuse squad with 24 service aces and 164 digs.
Shemanova and the Orange return home this weekend, taking on Notre Dame on Friday at 7 p.m. and Louisville on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission and parking are free for all Syracuse volleyball home matches.
