SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse sophomore snapper Aaron Bolinsky and junior defensive end Kingsley Jonathan were named to the 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Football Team on Thursday, Nov. 14.
Â
To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve, achieve sophomore standing at their current school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3 and be nominated by his sports information director.
Â
Bolinsky has appeared in 17 games over the past two seasons as the Orange's snapper for both punts and placement kicks, including all nine games in 2019. Bolinsky is the initiator for a Syracuse punting operation that ranks second nationally in net average (44.2). He also has two tackles as a member of the Orange's punt coverage team, which is currently No. 8 in the FBS in punt return defense (1.7 ypr).
Â
Off the field, Bolinsky is an accounting major in Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He's a two-time SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll (min. 3.0 GPA) selection and was named to the 2018-19 ACC Honor Roll (min. 3.0 GPA for the academic year).
Â
Jonathan has 42 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 30 career games (two starts). In nine games this season, Jonathan has amassed 17 tackles, including three for lost yardage, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Â
Originally from Nigeria, Jonathan is an information and technology major in Syracuse's School of Information Studies. He's been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester he's been on campus and serves on the Syracuse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Â
Earlier this year, Jonathan was selected as one of the Atlantic Coast Conference's three student-athlete representatives under the Division I autonomy process. As such, Jonathan holds voting power on proposed NCAA rule changes and will attend the 2020 NCAA Convention in Anaheim, California as a member of the voting delegation.
Â
By virtue of their placement on the all-district team, Bolinsky and Jonathan advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first- and second-team (if applicable) honorees to be announced in December. Â Â
