SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 48th annual Syracuse University Men's Basketball Hardwood Banquet, sponsored by TK99, is scheduled for Sunday, March 10 at The OnCenter in Syracuse. The registration deadline has been extended to Wednesday, March 6, at midnight.
The Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence will be awarded to former Syracuse University standout and current assistant coach Gerry McNamara '06. The honor is bestowed on an individual or individuals who have ties to the men's basketball program and have made outstanding contributions to college basketball.
McNamara, one of the most popular players in Syracuse basketball's long history, put together a spectacular four-year run with the Orange. After enrolling in the fall of 2002, he ended up as a starter on the Syracuse squad that won the program's first NCAA Championship. Syracuse earned NCAA Tournament invitations in each of his four campaigns.
When he graduated in 2006, McNamara ranked fourth in career scoring (2,099 points) at Syracuse and as the program record-holder for game (9), season (107) and career (400) 3-point baskets.
He joined the Syracuse coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2009 and in 2011 was named an assistant coach. Gerry and his wife, Katie, have four children – sons Gerry and Patrick and daughters Maggie and Grace.
Tickets are $90 per person and $900 per table of 10. Each table purchase includes one limited edition Hall of Fame basketball signed by Coach Boeheim.
Proceeds benefit the Conrad McRae Endowed Men's Basketball Scholarship and the men's basketball program.
Doors open for the Hardwood Banquet at 5:00 p.m. with a reception that includes a silent auction featuring unique sports memorabilia, a player autograph session and an opportunity to bid on having players sit at your table. Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.
To reserve seats for the Hardwood Banquet, register online at cc.syr.edu/hardwood19 or contact the Orange Club by phone (315-443-1419).
