
Battle Earns All-ACC Third Team Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse junior guard Tyus Battle was named to the All-ACC Third Team in voting announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Orange's leading scorer, Battle received 128 points in the balloting. Votes were cast by a selection panel comprised of the league's 15 head coaches and 55 media members.

Battle, who was an All-ACC Second Team choice last season, is sixth in the conference in scoring (17.2 ppg) and third in the league in minutes played (36.3). He's scored in double figures 27 times in 31 games this season and ranks second on the team in assists (77).

In 102 career games, Battle is 16th in program history with 1,631 points.

Battle was joined on the All-ACC Third Team by Louisville's Jordan Nwora, Clemson's Marcquise Reed, Virginia Tech's Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Notre Dame's John Mooney.

Duke's Zion Williamson swept the ACC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards, while Virginia's Tony Bennett captured ACC Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in the last six seasons. The conference's other three major awards went to Virginia's De'Andre Hunter (Defensive Player of the Year), Florida's State's Mfiondu Kabengele (Sixth Man of the Year) and Nwora (Most Improved Player).

Syracuse finished the regular season 19-12 overall and 10-8 in ACC play. The Orange are the No. 6 seed in this week's New York Life ACC Tournament. They will play either No. 11 seed Boston College or No. 14 seed Pittsburgh in the second round Wednesday night at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
