
Orange Kick Off Spring Break in Colorado

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Syracuse softball team is set to kick off its spring break trip in Colorado at the Colorado State Classic, March 8-10. Syracuse (5-11) will face Wagner, Dayton and Colorado State.
'Cuse kicks off the tournament Friday at 12 p.m. ET against Wagner followed by a 2:30 p.m. matchup against Dayton. The Orange see Wagner once again on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. before playing host, Colorado State at 5:45 p.m. Syracuse closes out the weekend Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. game against the Rams. Sunday's game will be streamed on CSURams.com.
The Orange are coming off a 1-2 performance at the OSU/Tulsa Invitational, highlighted by a shutout victory over Seattle. Junior Alexa Romero pitched a complete-game, one hit shutout as 'Cuse took down Seattle, 7-0. She threw a season-high 13 strikeouts while her shutout moved her to fifth all-time at Syracuse with ___ in her career.
Wagner (2-6) went 1-3 at the Green and White Invitational for their second weekend of the season. The Seahawks pair of victories this season came against Purdue and Valparaiso. Senior Karen Prihoda is batting a team-best .360 this season with nine hits and 11 runs scored.
Dayton (7-5) looks to continue its winning streak, following an unblemished weekend at the Belmont Bruin Classic. The Flyers took three wins over Alabama A&M, Northern Kentucky and Belmont. Freshman Alyssa Cacini took Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors after leading the team with a .750 batting average last weekend in addition to a .800 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
Colorado State (12-4) hosts its second consecutive invitational, after going undefeated at home last weekend. The Rams had a 3-0 sweep that included a pair of run-rule victories over Idaho State and Stony Brook. Senior catcher Lauren Buchanan was tabbed Mountain West Player of the Week after notching eight RBIs and two home runs, including a grand slam, last week.
Syracuse, who will play nine games in 11 days, continues its road stretch with a Wednesday, March 13 matchup at #18/22 Kentucky. First pitch against the Wildcats is scheduled for 2 p.m.
