Syracuse sophomore Oshae Brissett announced via twitter that he plans to stay in the NBA Draft process and not return to school this spring. He made his decision prior to the May 29 deadline.
The 2019 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 20 at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Coach Jim Boeheim distributed the following statement in support of Brissett:
"I want to thank Oshae Brissett for all he did in his two years with our program," said Boeheim. "He was an important part of two NCAA Tournament teams at Syracuse. We appreciate his contributions and now wish him the best of luck."
Brissett started all 71 games of his Syracuse tenure. He accumulated 976 points (13.7 average) and 581 rebounds (8.2 rpg.) for the Orange.
The departure of Brissett and junior Tyus Battle, who is also participating in the pre-draft process, means Syracuse will need to replace four starters next year. Seniors Frank Howard and Paschal Chukwu, two other first-string regulars, completed their eligibility in 2018-19.
