TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Ninth-seeded Syracuse will face eighth-seeded NC State in the first round of the ACC Softball Championship on Wednesday, May 8 at 1 p.m. in Tallahassee, Fla. Fans can watch live on RSN and Fox Sports Go. The Orange finished the 2019 regular season with a 21-31 record and an 8-16 mark in ACC play and seek their first ACC Tournament win in program history.
Senior Alicia Hansen continues to cement her place in the Syracuse record books where she ranks top-10 in ten different career marks including hits, runs scored, stolen bases and RBIs. Hansen has played in 205 games in her career and is five hits away from becoming the third Orange player all-time to record 200 career hits. The senior leads the team this season with a .329 batting average and 34 RBIs. Gabby Teran has also been a steadfast of the 'Cuse lineup, batting .323 as the lead off in 51 of 52 games in 2019. The sophomore has a team-best 52 hits and 37 runs scored.
Syracuse won two of the three regular season meetings against the Wolfpack, including a 5-2 victory where Alexa Romero struck out 10. NC State is riding a three-game streak following a sweep against Louisville to conclude their regular season. The Wolfpack are third in the ACC with 1.15 home runs per game. Devin Wallace started all three games last week against the Cardinals holding Louisville to just six earned runs.
Wednesday's matchup will be the 17th all-time between the programs and the second in the ACC Tournament. Following the meeting earlier this season, the all-time series is tied at eight apiece.
The winner of Wednesday's game will face No. 1 seed Virginia Tech Thursday at 11 a.m. on RSN.
