The Syracuse men's basketball team is scheduled to travel to Italy this summer and will play four exhibition games during its overseas stay.
Â
The Orange will depart Syracuse on Saturday, August 10, and return to campus on Tuesday, August 20. The NCAA allows programs 10 practice sessions prior to foreign travel during the offseason. Syracuse team members will likely convene at the beginning of August. Â
Â
The slate of exhibition games includes:
The Italian Select Team will feature area professional players.
Â
The Syracuse roster is expected to include five newcomers: incoming freshmen John Bol Ajak, Jesse Edwards, Joe Girard, Brycen Goodine and Quincy Guerrier. Redshirt junior Elijah Hughes is the lone returning starter from 2018-19. Additional veterans on the list include sophomores Buddy Boeheim, Robert Braswell and Jalen Carey, and juniors Marek Dolezaj, Bourama Sidibe and Howard Washington.
Â
Syracuse's most recent foreign trip was to Canada in August 2013. The Orange played exhibitions against McGill University, Bishops University, Carleton University and Ottawa University.
  Â
Trip plans are being coordinated with Complete Sports Management (CSM), an all-encompassing sports marketing agency. Complete Sports Management has created a number of annual events, including The Battle 4 Atlantis Men's Basketball Tournament and the Bahamas Bowl Football Game.
Â
"CSM is proud to be working with Syracuse University's men's basketball team and legendary Hall of Fame Coach Jim Boeheim," said Lea Miller-Tooley, CSM President. "We believe their trip to Italy will be a memorable one and play a vital role for their upcoming season."
