
Orange Add Infielder Barta

Former North Dakota State and Butler County Community College middle infielder Jaime Barta has signed a grant-in-aid and will enroll at Syracuse and join the softball program.

Butler County was 43-8, won the District E title and competed in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Softball Championship in 2019. The Grizzlies were defeated by Wallace Community College-Dothan, 9-8, in the final. Barta played in all 51 games, hit .319, scored 38 runs, drove in 18 and stole 14 bases.

Barta played at North Dakota State as a freshman in 2018. The Bison were 34-19 overall, won the Summit League Tournament and earned a spot in the NCAA postseason. Barta saw action in 31 contests, primarily in a reserve role.

Barta attended St. Mary Central High School in Bismark, N.D., and was a four-time all-state selection. She set single-season records for batting average (.581), hits (68), runs (50) and on-base percentage (.640). She earned Western Dakota Association (WDA) honors four times.

A lefthanded hitter who throws righthanded, Barta will be a junior at Syracuse.

Syracuse was 21-32 overall and earned a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in Doepking's first campaign as head coach.
