
Boeheim's Army Run Ends In TBT

SYRACUSE, NY -- Top-seeded Boeheim's Army had its run in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) end on Sunday in a 84-72 loss to third-seeded Team Brotherly Love. The defeat came in the TBT round of 16 and Team Brotherly Love earned a trip to Chicago for the Final 8.
Novar Gadson had 22 points, Frantz Massenat added 18 and Ramone Moore had 15, including the game-winning basket to end the contest. Boeheim's Army received 16 points and 10 rebounds from Hakim Warrick, 15 from Eric Devendorf and 13 from Jordan Crawford.
SECOND-HALF SUPREMECY
The contest was knotted 40-40 after a hotly-contested first half that featured six lead changes. Massenat already had 12 points as did Devendorf.
Team Brotherly Love started to pull away in the third quarter, building an eight-point margin, and then extended the advantage in the final period.
ELAM ENDING
Brotherly Love led 75-62 when the game format switched to the Elam Ending, making the target score 83. Devendorf scored on a lefthanded drive to narrow the gap to eight points, 79-71, but Massenat was fouled shooting a 3-pointer and converted all three free throws. After Devendorf made one-of-two from the line, Moore posted up and scored in the lane to finish the contest.
HAK ATTACK
Warrick had his best game of the TBT, posting a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) in the defeat. He made 7-of-12 from the field and both of his free throw attempts.
BOARD WOES
Team Brotherly Love had a solid showing on the boards and outrebounded Boeheim's Army, 84-72. Samme Givens had 11 rebounds and Mikal Stibbins added eight for Brotherly Love.Â
BLACKWELL AND BELBEY GUIDE ARMY
Ryan Blackwell, who played at Syracuse from 1997-to-2000, coached Boeheim's Army again this year. Kevin Belbey, a former Syracuse team manager, served as general manager.
ANOTHER ORANGE NATION CROWD
With the Syracuse Regional hosted by Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena, there was a dominant pro-Orange crowd in attendance. Fans lined up starting at 10 a.m. for the 2 p.m. tipoff on Sunday.
