
Softball Adds All-American Woods To The Roster

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Paris Woods has signed a grant-in-aid letter at Syracuse and is set to join the softball program in 2020, according to Coach Shannon Doepking.
A native of Boulder, Colo., Woods comes to Syracuse following two standout seasons at Florida State Southwest College where she recorded a .402 career batting average, a .445 on-base percentage and a .574 slugging percentage in 104 contests.
Woods, an outfielder and the 2019 Suncoast Conference Student-Athlete of the Year, hit .406, scored 52 runs, drove in 49 runs and stole 30 bases as a sophomore. In her rookie campaign, Woods hit .397 and stole 25 bases for the Buccaneers.
Woods was the Tri-Valley League Player of the Year and earned Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) First Team All-State honors while competing at Frederick High School (Colo.). in 2017. She hit .507 and had 31 RBI in 22 games as a senior.
Florida State Southwest has produced four consecutive 50-plus win seasons and 13 Division I signees under Coach Robert Iamurri. The Bucs ended the 2019 season with a 54-3 record and a No. 2 national ranking.
Syracuse was 21-32 overall and earned a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in Doepking's first campaign as head coach.
