STRATFORD, England - Former Syracuse women's soccer goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan, 23, has signed with professional club West United F.C. Women, the club announced on Friday. Brosnan, a Short Hills, N.J. native, is West Ham's sixth signee of the summer and the second goalkeeper on the roster. West Ham United plays in the Football Association Women's Super League (FA WSL).
A standout shot stopper for the Orange from 2014-17, Brosnan earned ACC All-Freshman and All-ACC Third Team honors in her Syracuse career, and was a two-time member of the Academic All-ACC team as well. Brosnan went 24-35-8 in 67 games for the 'Cuse, recording a 1.30 goals-against average and .794 save percentage over four seasons.
A dominant force between the pipes for the Orange, Brosnan's 81 saves in 2015 paced the conference, and she capped off her career with a senior season that saw her stop an ACC-best 102 shots, good for third-most in program history. Her .823 save percentage that season also ranks third in school history, and she left the 'Cuse as the all-time saves leader (344). Brosnan also ranks second in career saves per game (5.13) and third in career shutouts (18).
Brosnans's signing comes following a move to France in December 2017 when she signed with Ambilly Féminin. Brosnan spent half a season with the side before joining fellow French team Le Havre where she featured as the team's preferred goalkeeper. At the international level, Brosnan has played on the Ireland U17 and U19 squads, and has also received a call-up for the USA U23 team.
