Syracuse star defensive back Andre Cisco declared for the NFL Draft on Tuesday night. The All-American had previously had his junior season cut short by suffering an injury prior to the team's win over Georgia Tech.
Â
Cisco is currently the FBS active leader in interceptions (13) and wraps up his 'Cuse career as a two-time All-ACC selection and was the only freshman named to the Walter Camp All-America team after his breakout rookie campaign.
Cisco led all FBS players in interceptions as a freshman and was the first true freshman to lead the country in picks in nearly 70 years (George Shaw, 1951). The Valley Stream, N.Y. native was successful immediately after arriving on campus, winning the starting job out of camp. He became the first true freshman defensive back to start a season opener at Syracuse since Markus Paul in 1985. He concluded that rookie campaign by earning All-America honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation (second team), Sporting News (second team), Associated Press (third team), Athlon (fourth team), Phil Steele (fourth team) and College Football News (honorable mention).
He followed that up by leading the ACC in interceptions again as a sophomore, in a season where he only suited up in nine games and earned All-ACC honors.
