#14 Orange Set to Host Boston College

The 14th-ranked Syracuse University volleyball team will host Boston College on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 in the Women's Building. The Orange (2-4 overall, 2-4 ACC) and the Eagles (0-4, 0-4) will play on Friday night before an ACC Network audience at 4 pm. Saturday's match will be aired on ACC Network Extra at 5 pm. Due to COVID-19 safety protocol, both matches will be played without spectators.
Block Party
The Orange rank eighth in the nation in blocks per set (2.36). Syracuse also ranks 14th in the country in total blocks (49.5). Additionally, sophomore middle blocker Marina Markova ranks fifth in the ACC and 22nd nationally with 22 blocks.
Hogan's Heroics
Freshman defensive specialist Lauren Hogan ranks ninth in the nation in digs per set (4.86). She also has a .986 reception percentage, having successfully received 137 balls with only two errors.
1K Kills
Junior outside hitter Polina Shemanova became the 17th student-athlete in program history to record 1,000 career kills in Syracuse's match at Louisville. The St. Petersburg, Russia-native has 1,012 kills in 221 career sets played.
The Series vs. Boston College
This will be the 46th and 47th meetings between Syracuse and Boston College. The Orange lead the series, 36-9. In 2019, 'Cuse won both matches against Boston College, with each going a full five sets in favor of the Orange. In the initial 2019 showdown in Chestnut Hill, Shemanova tallied 32 kills, the third-most in a single match in program history.
Last Time Out for the Orange
Syracuse lost a pair of matches at ninth-ranked Louisville last weekend, losing in three-sets on Friday and Saturday. Shemanova recorded 23 kills and Hogan tallied 22 digs in the two ACC matches.
