As the Syracuse Orange prepare to tip off vs. Northeastern on Wednesday, Dec. 16 (3 p.m., ACC Network), we continue our Q&A series to help you get to know your Orange! In this edition we talk with freshman forward Chaz Owens!
What is your favorite high school basketball memory?
Competing in the state tournament and dunking for the first time in a game.
Is there a reason you chose #12 as your jersey number?
There is no particular reason, however, I was born on April 12th.
What has been the biggest difference between the level of play you faced last year and then college basketball practices this season?
The speed of the game is much faster compared to the level of play I faced last year. Also the level of play is much more intense.
What led to you choosing Syracuse?
Syracuse has a storied basketball program and I believe the coaching staff will help me develop on and off the court.

What is it like to be in the Carrier Dome and lookup and see your dad's (Billy Owens) number in the rafters?
It's a very surreal feeling. I'm just excited and proud to carry on the Owens legacy here at Syracuse.
Which ACC arena are you looking forward to playing in the most?
I'm looking forward to going down to North Carolina and playing in the Smith Center.

Favorite hobbies: going to the movies, video games
Person you most admire:Â My mother, Nicole Owens
