Four Orange Named to Tewaaraton Watch List

Four Syracuse standouts made the cut for the first Tewaaraton Watch List of the Year.
Considered to be the top individual honor in the sport, the Tewaaraton Award named 50 men's and 50 women's players to its initial watch list on Thursday night. Two-time All-American defenseman Nick Mellen, 2019 All-Americans Brendan Curry and Chase Scanlan and Tucker Dordevic were tabbed by the foundation as players to watch.
There will be two more watch list additions throughout the season and being on the watch list is not a prerequisite for the award. Players can play themselves onto watch lists as the season progresses. Syracuse's four selections ties Virginia and Yale for the most nationally.
Mellen has been one of the top cover defensemen in Syracuse history, earning All-America honors in both his sophomore and junior seasons. The West Genesee grad has held opponents a full point below their season average in each of the last two seasons.
Curry led the Orange midfield in scoring in 2019 and was named a USILA Third Team All-American. He's been selected as a team captain this season.
Scanlan had a historic debut for the Orange. The Loyola transfer registered the most goals ever by a player in their 'Cuse debut with seven in last weekend's victory over Colgate.
Dordevic is back in the starting rotation after missing all of 2019 due to injury. The redshirt-sophomore registered one assist in the season opener.
