The first top-10 opponent of the year for Syracuse visits on Sunday.
Sunday's game against Army just became the Orange's first top-10 battle of the year.
The Syracuse men's lacrosse team held steady at No. 5 in both the USILA and the Inside Lacrosse/Maverik Media Poll this week, but the red-hot Black Knights jumped to as high as No. 7 in the coaches' poll.
'Cuse has handled its business against a pair of unranked foes thus far, boasting the No. 4 scoring offense in the country. The Cadets have blasted their three opponents thus far to a combined score of 51-9, with two of those wins coming against top-20 opponents.
Penn State remains No. 1 in the USILA Poll, collecting 330 points and seven first-place votes. Virginia earned 10 first-place votes, but sits at No. 2 with 326 points in the Poll. Yale (302), Maryland (285) and the Orange (263) round out the top-five. Army is tied with Penn for the seventh spot, garnering 212 points.
Army is the third-highest ranked opponent that Syracuse is currently scheduled to face in 2020. No. 2 Virginia headlines that category, with No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 7 Army, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 10 Duke, No. 12 Cornell and No. 15 Johns Hopkins following suit. 'Cuse opponents Rutgers and Hobart are also receiving votes.
In the media poll, the top-six is the same, with Army checking in at No. 9 in that poll.
