
Sidibe, Golubovskaya Named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Bourama Sidibe (men's basketball) and Sofya Golubovskaya (tennis) are the Syracuse University Scholar Athletes of the Week for the week of February 17th.

Sidibe is a junior international relations major in the College of Arts and Sciences. In his time at Syracuse, he has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll twice. A native of Bamako, Mali, Sidibe has donated basketballs, shoes and other items to a local children's basketball club back home.

On the hardwood, Sidibe's 6.7 rebounds per game rank in the top-20 in the ACC and second on the Orange. The 6-foot-10-inch junior starter has recorded two double-doubles this year and paces the team in blocks (28). Sidibe has six games with at least nine rebounds and three 10+ rebound outings. He's recorded three double-digit scoring games and has registered seven multi-block games.

Sidibe and the Orange continue their season Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they travel to the KFC Yum! Center to play Louisville. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Golubovskaya, a junior from Moscow, Russia, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in human development and family science in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. She's made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the last three semesters.

Golubovskaya plays primarily at the No. 2 singles slot and has almost 30 singles victories in her Orange career. Her and doubles partner Sofya Treshcheva won the doubles title at the ITA Northeast Fall Regional Championship in 2018 and entered the following spring ranked 24th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Last spring she went 12-11 in singles but has seen limited time this year due to injury.

Golubovskaya and the tennis team will look to add two more wins to their record this week when they host Columbia Friday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. (ACC Network Extra) and Duke Sunday at 11 a.m. Both matches will be played at Drumlins Country Club. Admission and parking are free.
