
Wallace's Best Games In Orange

John Wallace, who led Syracuse to the 1996 NCAA Championship game, returns to the Dome on Saturday, Feb. 29, to have his jersey retired. The ceremony is scheduled for halftime of Syracuse's matchup with North Carolina.
Wallace's jersey will join a group of 14 others from Syracuse players who have had their uniforms retired over the years.

It's difficult to pull out 10 games from a collegiate career that included All-American honors, but here are 10 of Wallace's top performances while with the Orange:
April 1, 1996
NCAA Championship Game vs. Kentucky: In his last collegiate game, Wallace produced 29 points and 10 rebounds. The Orange lost in the title tilt to the Wildcats, 76-67.
March 22, 1996
NCAA Sweet 16 vs. Georgia: Wallace scores 30 points to lead the Orange past the Bulldogs, 83-81 in overtime. His 3-point shot with 2.6 seconds left in the extra session clinches the victory. Wallace dominated the boards, hauling in 15 rebounds.
March 6, 1996
vs. Notre Dame: The Orange defeated Notre Dame in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament and Wallace posted 32 points and 11 rebounds. He was 13-of-14 from the foul line in the triumph.
Feb. 10, 1996
Georgetown: Wallace had 25 points and 13 rebounds to help the Orange defeat Allen Iverson and the #8 Hoyas, 85-64.
January 26, 1996
Villanova: He produced a dominant effort with 31 points and seven rebounds but the Orange were beaten by #6 Villanova, 72-69 in overtime. Wallace played all 45 minutes for Syracuse.
Jan. 16, 1996
at West Virginia: He tallied a career-high 33 points and six rebounds in Syracuse's 90-78 loss to the Mountaineers. Wallace was 11-of-19 from the field and 8-of-12 from the line. He added four assists, one block and two steals while logging all 40 minutes.
Dec. 23, 1995
at Arizona: The Orange upset #3 Arizona, 79-70, at the McKale Center in Tucson. Wallace had a game-best 26 points and nine rebounds, plus two assists, two blocks and two steals.
March 19, 1995
NCAA Second Round vs. Arkansas: The Orange lost a heartbreaker, 96-94 in overtime, to the #6 Razorbacks. Wallace had 29 points and grabbed nine boards in the defeat. He converted 9-of-12 shots, including his only 3-point attempt, and made 10-of-16 free throws. Wallace also contributed five assists and three steals while playing 43 minutes.
Kentucky: Syracuse beat the #4 Wildcats, 93-85. Wallace poured in 18 points and added 13 rebounds while teammate Adrian Autry scored 30 and had 10 assists. Kentucky was led by 27 points from Tony Delk.
Feb. 1, 1994
Connecticut: Wallace helped Syracuse upend #5 Connecticut, 108-95. He contributed 25 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots. Wallace made 8-of-10 shots from the field and 9-of-12 from the free-throw line. That Huskies team featured Donyell Marshall, who finished the game with 30 points.
