SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Seniors Lila Nazarian (women's lacrosse) and Jamie Trimboli (men's lacrosse) are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of February 3.
Â
Nazarian, a political science and citizenship and civic engagement double major who's also pursuing a minor in history, comes to Syracuse from Baltimore, Md. Since arriving on campus in the fall of 2016, Nazarian has earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester she's been at Syracuse and is a four-time ACC Honor Roll honoree. During her junior year she was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll, and she's on the executive board of Syracuse's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Â
Nazarian was nominated by the program directors of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs to manage the CCE Mentor Program ahead of the 2019-20 academic year. Her duties include providing academic and program-specific advising for mentors and mentees and facilitating engagement-focused programs. Nazarian interned with Brown Goldstein & Levy, LLP during the summer of 2019 and did intensive legal- and policy-research related to ADA and accessibility law, with a specific focus on an overcrowding issue at a jail in Bloomington, Ind.
Â
A defender, Nazarian has started 13-of-43 career games and helped the Orange to 40 wins over the last three seasons. She's recorded 33 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers in her career.
Â
Trimboli is a biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences and has proven to be an outstanding student, earning spots on both the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Roll every single semester he's been at Syracuse. Trimboli is a three-time ACC Honor Roll honoree and two-time ACC All-Academic Team selection. He's also involved in the Pre-Dental Club and assisted in launching the City Lax Program—an organization that gives inner-city children an opportunity to play lacrosse.
Â
Trimboli was elected as the team captain ahead of the 2020 season and is a two-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American. He was a 2018 All-ACC honoree, has started 39-straight games heading into the 2020 regular season, and has scored 58 goals and 79 in 45 career games.
Â
The No. 4/4 Syracuse women's lacrosse team opens the 2020 season on Friday, Feb. 7 against Canisius at 7:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Admission and parking are free.
