'Cuse will get its 2020 season underway on Friday vs. Colgate, here are five things to know about the season-opening matchup.
1. It'll be a weekday matinee
Syracuse's season-opening game will face off at 4 p.m. on Friday. Fans in attendance will get the 2020 team poster and schedule cards!
2. It's the second-straight season that the Orange have faced Colgate
Syracuse is hoping for a different result than the 2019 season opener, which saw the Raiders stun the Orange 12-9 in the Dome last season.
'Cuse is 80-20 in in season openers in program history.
3. Coach Desko is 1 win from another milestone
Head Coach John Desko enters Friday's opener tied with legendary head coach Roy Simmons Sr. for second on Syracuse's all-time wins list (253) and 19th among all-time NCAA Division I coaches.
Desko (253) is four wins behind former Cornell coach Richie Moran (257) for 18th and not far behind longtime Hofstra coach Howdy Myers (261), Towson's Carl Runk (262) and Tony Seamen (263). A 10-win season or more for the Orange this year could move him to 15th all time in NCAA Division I victories.
4. 'Cuse Tours NY State in 2020
Six of Syracuse's 12 regular season games will be against New York State opponents, including four straight to start the year. Syracuse will also make its first road trip to Albany this season.
In program history, 'Cuse is 411-160-10 all-time against in-state opponents.
5. Keeping Them  Under 10
The last 59 times Syracuse has held its opponent to single digits, the Orange have come away victorious. Colgate has played a number of low-scoring games under second-year Head Coach Matt Karweck. The Raiders have failed to reach double-digits in 10 of their last-12 games, but have also held their opponent under 10 in five of those games.
