NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – For the second straight year, Orange junior safety Andre Cisco has been named to the watch list for the Lott IMPACT Trophy.
Â
Presented by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, the trophy is awarded annually to college football's IMPACT defensive player of the year. Named after Pro Football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the trophy is the first and only college football award that equally recognizes athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
Â
This year's watch list is comprised of 42 players (Lott's uniform number) representing 41 schools. Cisco is one of 15 defensive backs and nine ACC defenders who are considered preseason candidates for the award.
Â
The first true freshman in Syracuse history to earn All-America honors, Cisco is the active FBS leader with 12 career interceptions and he ranks second among current FBS players in passes defended per game (1.27). In 22 games, Cisco has 125 career tackles, 28 passes defended, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery to go along with his 12 picks.
Â
Cisco tallied 68 tackles and tied for the ACC lead with five interceptions last season despite missing three games due to injury. He ranked fourth nationally in interceptions per game (0.6) and was a 2019 All-ACC Second Team selection.
Â
The Lott IMPACT Trophy is voted on by a panel of select national media, previous finalists, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation Board of Directors and a distinguished group of former college football head coaches.
Â
To date, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation has donated more than $1.6 million to various charities across the country.
Â
The winner of the 17th annual Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced on Dec. 17 in Newport Beach, California.
