'Cuse Connections: John Wildhack on ACC Fall Plans

In this installment of a series about how Orange student-athletes, coaches, staff and alumni are doing during these challenging times, we chat with Director of Athletics John Wildhack.

Host Brian Higgins and John Wildhack discuss the recent Atlantic Coast Conference announcement regarding fall sports. Wildhack shares his perspective on how months of work led to the ACC creating and selecting a path to play fall sports and how it will require the ability to adapt and handle the challenges that lie ahead.

Wildhack provides insight on the 10+1 football schedule model, which gives every team a chance to have six home games, play a non-conference home game and continue annual in-state non-conference games. Additionally, they discuss the impact of Notre Dame playing the 2020 football season as a 'conference member' and how this season might impact the ACC and future scheduling models. In addition, Wildhack shares details about protocol standards for ACC COVID-19 testing, team travel, the New York State quarantine, and coaches and student-athletes having the option to opt out of participating this fall.
