CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Syracuse plays two games on the road this week, starting Tuesday, Jan. 12 at North Carolina. Tip off at the Dean E. Smith Center is set for 9 p.m.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse (7-2, 1-1) got back to its winning ways with a 74-69 victory against Georgetown on Saturday night. Junior Buddy Boeheim led a group of four Orange to reach double-digits in scoring with a team-high 21 points. Sophomore Joseph Girard III scored 18 points and dished out a season-high eight assists.

With the victory, the 'Cuse improves its non-conference regular-season record to 6-1.

SU VS. UNC TAKE TWO
The Orange and Tar Heels were originally scheduled to play in Chapel Hill on Jan. 2, but the game was postponed when Syracuse had to pause to COVID-19 safety protocols. The Orange were originally scheduled to host Clemson on Tuesday night, but the Tigers' program is currently paused after positive COVID-19 test result and subsequent contact tracing within the program.

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina enters Tuesday's game on a two-game winning streak, which has improved its record to 7-4 overall, 2-2 in ACC play. The Tar Heels have won their previous two games by a total of three points.

Armando Bacot is North Carolina's leading scorer this season, averaging 11.1 points per game. Garrison Brooks is right behind, adding 10.1 points per game. Day'Ron Sharpe leads UNC's efforts on the boards, grabbing 8.3 rebounds per game, which ranks third in the ACC. Sharpe and the Tar Heels rank first in the ACC in rebounding margin (+12.8).

Roy Williams is in his 18th season at the helm of the North Carolina program. The 2007 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee has guided the Tar Heels to three national championships (2005, 2009, 2017).

Syracuse defeated UNC, 81-53, in the second round of the ACC Tournament last March to snap a nine-game losing streak against the Tar Heels . The Orange scored the first seven points of the contest and never looked back. Elijah Hughes led the 'Cuse with 27 points, including 18 in the first half. He was one of four Syracuse players to reach double digits in scoring.

The second-round matchup between Syracuse and North Carolina was the last game played in the 2020 ACC Tournament as the remainder of the even was cancelled the next day to COVID-19.
