Q&A with Joseph Girard III
1/18/2021 5:19:00 PM | Men's Basketball
As the Syracuse Orange prepare to take on Miami in the Carrier Dome on Tuesday, Jan. 19Â (7Â p.m., ACCN), we continue our Q&A series to help you get to know your Orange! In this edition we talk with redshirt sophomore guard Joseph Girard III!
What has been the biggest challenge for you during the COVID Pandemic?
Staying active and being able to communicate with everyone. It has been hard to stay in touch with friends and family.
Â
Tell us about how you happened to see Marek's tooth on the court in the Georgetown game?
I just looked down on the floor and I saw a tooth there, split into two pieces. I think I said "Yo! That's a tooth!" When I looked up, I saw Marek sprinting to the bench. He was trying to cover his face, but I could see he was bleeding.
Â
Your dad made the drive to Chapel Hill to see you play North Carolina. He was one of about 60 fans there. Could you hear him while you were playing?
A little bit. You remember those voices that you are used to hearing at games. My dad is definitely one of those.
Â
You earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll after the Fall Semester for receiving a grade of 3.0-or-better. How do manage to maintain your grades while also putting the time into basketball?
I think with the pandemic it has been a little bit easier. The way classes have been set up, all on-line, it helps you focus more on what you are doing.
Â
Which Syracuse uniform design do you prefer? The 2020-21 one or the old-school, script lettering?
That's easy. It's definitely the old-school lettering.
