Q&A with John Bol Ajak

As the Syracuse Orange prepare to take on Pittsburgh in the Carrier Dome on Wednesday, Jan. 6 (4:30 p.m., ACC Network), we continue our Q&A series to help you get to know your Orange! In this edition we talk with redshirt freshman center John Bol Ajak!
What was it like when you scored your first college basket at Syracuse?
"It was cool. A baseline jumpshot."
When you are playing, do you notice the fact there isn't a crowd?
"I don't really notice it. I guess I'm so focused I that I don't think about the fact there are no fans watching."
What is different about your game this year as opposed to a season ago?
"I'm a lot smarter. I have a role this year, which helps. Last year I redshirted so I knew I wasn't going to play in any games."

Tell us about your group workouts with the other centers – Frank Anselem, Jesse Edwards and Bourama Sidibe? Are they competitive?
"It's very competitive. We go hard. Coach Griff (Allen Griffin) has helped the four of us form a brotherhood. We root for each other to do well. We make each other better."
