Q&A with Jesse Edwards

As the Syracuse Orange prepare to take on Georgetown in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Jan. 9Â (7Â p.m., ESPN), we continue our Q&A series to help you get to know your Orange! In this edition we talk with redshirt sophomore center Jesse Edwards!
What has been biggest challenge for you during the COVID Pandemic?
The biggest challenge is the constant changes of plans that keep happening because of cases on teams we are playing or within our own team. It can be hard to build momentum when play can be stopped any minute. I am not going to complain though because I know everyone is going through the same struggles.Â
When you are playing, do you notice the fact there isn't a crowd?
The crowd is definitely something you miss when you are on the court. When there is a big play or an important moment, the silence does feel weird, especially after I played in a full Dome last year.
What is different about your game this year as opposed to a season ago?
I'm more physical, more confident, and more adept to my position and role in the team. There still is a lot of work to do but I feel good.
Adding Frank Anselem to the group of centers on the roster has ramped up the competition at that position. What are those workouts run by Coach Griffin like this year?
I enjoy the competition. It is always good to play against a new style and player on the court. The workouts are competitive, and there is some more trash talking going on too!
