De Vries was part of U.S. team that won bronze at the Junior Pan American Championship in August, which qualified the Red, White and Blue for the upcoming JWC. She was named the Top Scorer at the JPAC and is joined by 14 of her JPAC roster teammates for the upcoming Junior World Cup.Â
"It is quite exciting to take the next step toward our trip to South Africa by announcing our Junior World Cup roster," said U.S. U-21 Women's National Team Head Coach Tracey Paul. "We have selected a very talented group, but, as we all know, that is only part of the equation that makes a successful team. Our training camp prior to leaving will allow us to develop the cohesion, culture and spirit necessary to get through the challenges that lie ahead of us in this tournament. I am looking forward to getting this group together again so that we can build on the relationships and hockey that started to develop in Chile."
The Junior USWNT will take part in a pre-tournament holding camp from November 26 to 29 at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. The following day the selected team will depart from Charlotte to make the trip to Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Although the official schedule has not yet been released, all matches of the Junior World Cup will be streamed live on Watch.Hockey.
Due to the initial COVID-19 postponement, the age restrictions for the Junior Pan American Championship shifted to reflect originally eligible athletes. For the Junior World Cup, only athletes born in 2000 or later are eligible to compete.
De Vries, a two-time NFHCA All-American at Syracuse, has six goals and two assists for 14 points this season. She's appeared in 11 of the No. 6 Orange's 13 games after missing the first two matches due to her national team commitment for the JPAC.Â
