Syracuse (3-3) return to the Dome to host RV Indiana (6-0) on Tuesday (Nov. 30) in the Big Ten/ ACC Challenge at 7 p.m.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange are back home after a three-game stretch in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas last week. Syracuse suffered a 67-55 loss to VCU in the first game followed by a 92-84 win against Arizona State on the second day. The Orange wrapped up the tournament in sixth place after losing 89-68 to #19 Auburn.Â
Indiana is coming off a 90-79 victory against Marshall on Saturday (Nov. 27). Junior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis led the Hoosiers with a game-high and career high of 43 points. He also contributed five rebounds, seven blocks and four assists.
THE SYRACUSE-INDIANA SERIES
Syracuse and Indiana have met six times in the past with the Orange leading the series 5-1. The last time the two teams faced off was in the 2013 Big Ten/ ACC Challenge when the Orange defeated the Hoosiers 69-52.Â
EDWARDS' STANDOUT PERFORMANCES
Junior center Jesse Edwards had a standout performance in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament last week. He averaged 14.7 ppg. including a career high of 21 points in the win against Arizona State. Edwards was lights out from the field shooting 19-25 (.760). He also contributed 18 rebounds in the three games.
Buddy Boeheim continued his climb on the 1,000 career points list averaging 20 ppg. in the tournament. He moved up to a rank of 39 on the 1,000 career points list with 1,272 points.Â
JACKSON-DAVIS CONTINUES TO EXCEL
Hoosiers' 2020-21 All-American Jackson-Davis was named National Player of the Week by Dick Vitale on ESPN.com this week after his exceptional efforts in the game against Marshall recording a career high of 43 points in the game. He was named Preseason First Team All-American by Dick Vitale on ESPN.com, Preseason First-Team All-American by Athlon and Preseason Second-Team All-American by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook. Jackson-Davis was also selected for the Karl Malone Watch List.Â
