Wins New Balance Grand Prix
Justyn Knight became the new world leader in the men's two-mile, posting the fastest time of the season to date at the New Balance Grand Prix in Staten Island this afternoon.
Knight, who graduated from Syracuse in 2018 as a two-time individual NCAA champion, trains professionally with former 'Cuse head coach Chris Fox with Reebok Boston Track Club. He turned in a time of 8:13.92 to win the event.
Knight bested USA's Joe Klecker (8:14.20) and Australia's Morgan McDonald (8:14.92) in a star-studded event with some of the world's best.
He was 0.86 seconds off the Canadian record pace, which was set by Mohammed Ahmed in 2017.
