3/1/2021 5:11:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
The Syracuse men's lacrosse team rose in every poll following an emphatic victory over then No. 3/2 Virginia.
The Orange now rank No. 7 in the USILA poll and No. 6 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, a jump of three in each ranking following their 20-10 win.
In the USILA Poll, North Carolina remained the No. 1 team after collecting 445 points and 14 of the 22 first-place votes. Fellow ACC rival Duke (424/7 first-place votes) ranked second, followed by Maryland (391/1 first-place vote). Georgetown (355), Rutgers (337) and Army (312) are the three teams ranked ahead of the Orange in that poll.
All-five ACC teams are ranked in the top-nine again, with Virginia and Notre Dame following Syracuse in eighth and ninth, respectively. With six ACC games this season and the Orange having already faced Army, seven of Syracuse's 12 games this season will be against top-10 opponents if the poll holds as it is now. Albany (No. 18) is also ranked among 'Cuse opponents this season.
In the media poll, The top-five is the same but with a switch at the top. Duke (442/10 first-place votes) sits at No. 1, followed by North Carolina (441/9 first-place votes). Maryland (415/2 first-place votes), Georgetown (367/1 first-place vote) and Rutgers (347) round out that group in order in front of Syracuse.
'Cuse will host Vermont on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a game televised on ACC Network Extra.
