
Field Hockey Adds Vivian Rowan for Next Fall

SYRACUSE, NY— Vivan "Vivi" Rowan will attend Syracuse University and play field hockey for the Orange next fall. Rowan, a 5-foot-3 multi-sport athlete who excelled in field hockey, ice hockey and track and field at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.
Rowan served as team captain both her junior and senior years and scored eight goals and 11 assists during her time with the Gators. Despite being stripped of a senior season, Rowan collected various honors during her tenure at Stone Ridge including All-Independent School League (ISL) AA Team and Washington Post All-Met Team Honorable Mention in 2019.
On the ice, she was recognized as a Mid-Atlantic Girls Hockey League (MAGHL) All-Conference and helped her team to a MAGHL Championship in 2019 and 2020.
"I was drawn to Syracuse for its high academics and the competitive family environment that the field hockey team represented," Rowan said.
Rowan played club hockey for the Washington Wolves.
A native of Chevy Chase, Md., Rowan is the daughter of Patrick Rowan and Patricia Heffernan and has a younger sister, Evangeline. Her grandfather, William Rowan, played football at Detroit Mercy from 1957-61.
Rowan is the fifth signee announced of the incoming freshman class and will join Olivia Bell, Brooke Borzymowski and Kate Proefrock on The Hill next fall.
