Syracuse has two of the 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, which honors the total student-athlete.
Orange standouts Stephen Rehfuss and Drake Porter were among the 10 finalists. The Senior CLASS Award – an acronym for celebrating loyalty and achievement for staying in school, focuses on notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. 'Cuse's Jamie Trimboli was also named a candidate for the award this season before the list was trimmed to 10.
The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 20 candidates announced earlier in the season. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 17. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winner.
On the field, Rehfuss has established himself as one of the nation's best attackmen, including being named to Inside Lacrosse's midseason All-America team earlier this week. He currently leads the team with 38 points and is 10th all-time at Syracuse with 98 career assists. Rehfuss is also the 2020 recipient of the Doris Soladay Award, the highest honor Syracuse Athletics awards to student-athletes. He is currently a member of the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
Rehfuss will leave Syracuse with three degrees. He earned his bachelor's degree in 2019 in communication and rhetorical studies from the College of Visual and Performing Arts. In 2020, he finished  the iSchool's Information Technology Management program and is currently enrolled in Intercollegiate Advising and Support from the School of Education. Rehfuss will be enrolling in Albany Law this fall.
Porter is a three-year starter in net for 'Cuse, returning for his additional season of eligibility after earning All-America honors last season. A four-time member of the ACC Honor Roll, Porter is averaging 12.6 saves per game and has a save percentage of .529 this season. His 12.6 saves per game ranks second in the ACC – just percentage points behind Virginia's Alex Rode.
Porter earned his bachelor's degree in May in advertising from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. He is also currently enrolled in Syracuse's intercollegiate advising and support program.
Both are team captains and were also USILA Scholar All-Americans last season.
