Orange Schedule Exhibition With Pace
5/20/2021 2:01:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Syracuse will host Division II Pace University in an exhibition game on Wednesday, October 27, in the Dome.
The Orange and the Setters previously met in an exhibition outing on November 1, 2012, a contest claimed by the Orange, 99-63.Â
Pace is led by head coach Matt Healing, who is entering his sixth season at the helm in Pleasantville. He holds a 59-85 record while leading the Setters. The team did not compete during the 2020-21 season after the Northeast-10 Conference Council of Presidents voted to cancel regular season and championship competition for the conference's winter sports. In 2019-20, the Setters opened the campaign with nine straight triumphs and finished the season with 19 wins, the most by Pace in a season since the 2006-07 campaign (20).
Syracuse was 18-10 last season and secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight year in which the competition was held. The 11th-seeded Orange upset San Diego State and West Virginia to advance to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to Final Four-bound Houston. Jim Boeheim, who ranks second in career wins among Division I mentors, is now preparing for his 46th season as head coach at his alma mater.
