
Mike Lee Earns Upstate NY Hall Induction

Mike Lee, who started all 83 of his games at Syracuse, will be inducted into the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame on Sunday, August 1.
"We are thrilled to be inducting Mike Lee, who was a Syracuse captain as a senior, and led his team to 24-5 record," said Rene M. LeRoux, Executive Director of the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame. "Mike, who scored 1,351 points at Syracuse, was drafted by the NBA Buffalo Braves."Â
Lee is poised to join his younger brother, Jim Lee, in the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame. Jim entered the Hall in 2019. Other former Syracuse players who have been honored include JIm Boeheim (inducted 2019), Hal Cohen (2018), Craig Forth (2009), Ron Gillespie (2015), Bill Manikas (2007), Thomas Mossey (2017), Jim Seaman (2014) and Richard Suprunowicz (2015).
He joined the varsity at Syracuse in 1970-71 and was in the starting lineup for all 26 contests.The Orange finished 19-7 and earned a spot in the NIT in a campaign that saw Lee average 13.6 points per game. The following season, Syracuse earned another NIT berth and posted a 22-6 record. Lee's scoring average improved to 18.0 and he started all 28 contents. As a senior, Lee averaged 17.0 points and helped the Orange to a 24-5 record and an NCAA Tournament berth.
Lee was drafted in the 11th round of the 1973 NBA Draft by the Buffalo Braves.
Lee earned 11 varsity letters at Windsor High School while competing in football, basketball and baseball. He and his brother are both members of the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame.
His induction will become official at a dinner hosted by the Hilton Hotel in Troy, N.Y. The proceedings will start with a 4:00 p.m. reception followed by dinner at 5:00 p.m.Tickets are available by calling 518-877-5170.
