
Ariana Adams Joins the Orange

Ariana Adams, a four-year letterwinner at Texas will use her extra year of eligibility to play softball at Syracuse this upcoming season. Adams posted a perfect 11-0 record during her four seasons at Texas with a career earned run average (ERA) of 2.73.Â
Adams, a 5-foot-7 right-handed pitcher from Magnolia, Texas was a standout at Magnolia West High School. She struck out 635 batters during her prep career and owns school records in career strikeouts, single-season strikeouts (203), wins (19), and ERA (0.79). She was an honorable mention choice by the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) on its 5A All-State squad as a senior. Adams was a four-time All-District 19-5A and all-county choice while in high school and was named the All-District 20-5A Pitcher of the Year in 2016 and 2017.Â
As a freshman, Adams saw action in six games. She had a 4.94 ERA in 5.2 innings of work. As a sophomore Adams sliced her ERA in half with a 5-0 record in 12 appearances. She allowed just 2.42 earned runs per game in a career-high 34.2 innings that season. In a COVID-shortened season in 2020, Adams posted a 2-0 record in six appearances with a 4.94 ERA.Â
Adams began her senior campaign with a complete game shutout win over Lamar on Feb. 26. She struck out a career-high seven batters en route to the win. In her final career start for the Longhorns, Adams threw her first career no-hitter in a 12-0 five inning win over New Mexico on March 20. She struck out four batters, walked one and had one HBP in the win. In 25.1 innings of work, Adams had a 4-0 record with a 1.66 ERA and helped guide Texas to a 43-14 record and a NCAA Super Regional appearance. The Longhorns made the NCAA Tournament in each of Adam's seasons in Forty Acres, excluding the 2020 season when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the NCAA to cancel the rest of the season.Â
Adams played travel ball with the Scrap Yard Dogs and helped them to place first in the 2012 Ronald McDonald, Hall of Fame and Colorado Sparkler events. The Scrap Yard Dogs also had a second place finish at the USA/ASA JO Cup Nationals.Â
Adams graduated with a degree in religious studies from the University of Texas in May.Â
