Shemanova Earns Academic Honors

Syracuse University junior outside hitter Polina Shemanova earned 2020-21 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team. Selected by CoSIDA, the award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
A St. Petersburg, Russia native, Shemanova is a dual major in communications and rhetorical studies, and linguistics. The Student-Athlete Advisory Board member is a three-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree.
In 2020-21, Shemanova played in eight of Syracuse's 16 matches due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. She recorded 90 kills and 93 digs. Shemanova holds the program record for kills per set with 5.16 in 2019. In 2018, Shemanova earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors and was the AVCA East Region and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Year. She is a two-time AVCA All-Region and All-ACC First Team selection.
The last Orange volleyball student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors was Santita Ebangwese in 2018.
