Eleven Home Matches Highlight SU Soccer Schedule
8/2/2021 2:06:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Syracuse has 11 home matches at the SU Soccer Stadium as part of an 18-game schedule announced for the Fall campaign. The slate includes pairings with four programs who earned NCAA Tournament berths a season ago, including an encounter with national runnerup Florida State.
The home-pitch portion of the schedule features an October 10 match with 2020 Final Four participant Virginia. The Florida State challenge is on Oct. 7, just five days after the Orange play at Duke, another 2020 NCAA participant. An additional rugged road test will come on Oct. 21 at Clemson. The Tigers reached the NCAA quarterfinals a year ago.
The Orange open with two home exhibition games -- Aug. 10 against Army and Aug. 12 versus Lafayette. The regular-season starter is Aug. 19 against Albany.
The Albany match starts a string of five straight home contests that includes Fairleigh Dickinson (Aug. 22), Niagara (Aug. 26), Eastern Michigan (Aug. 29), and Binghamton (Sept. 2). Syracuse's 10 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) games begin on Sept. 18 at Notre Dame. The first conference home match is on Sept. 23 versus Louisville.
The ACC Tournament gets underway with quarterfinal play on Oct. 31 on campus sites. The semifinals (Nov. 5) and final (Nov. 7) will be hosted at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
Coach Nicky Thrasher Adams enters her third season at the Syracuse helm. Her roster includes team captains Meghan Root, a senior forward, senior defender Jenna Tivnan and graduate defender Natalie Weidenbach.
Admission to the SU Soccer Stadium is free. All fans attending games must adhere to Syracuse University's COVID-19 policy, which can be found here.
