Join the Celebration of 50 Years of 'Cuse Women's Athletics

Orange alumni, fans and friends are invited to share in a year-long celebration of 50 years of Syracuse University women's athletics. Events and special recognition of all female student-athletes who have donned the Block S to represent Syracuse University and the Athletics Department since 1971-72 will be held throughout the 2021-22 seasons. As we celebrate this history, we acknowledge those who have gone before us to set the standard we strive to achieve today so we can pave the way for the future. We reflect on the history of women in sport, admire their sacrifices, recognize their contributions and accomplishments, and honor their legacy.

Kickoff Weekend is set for October 7th through 10th. All former student-athletes, fans and friends of Syracuse University Athletics are invited back to campus to begin the celebrate 50 years of women's athletics during multiple events.

The year-long celebration will include the retirement of jerseys for three impactful former student-athletes who are influential figures in the world of sport, including Felisha Legette-Jack (basketball, 1984-89), Anna Goodale (rowing, 2002-05) and Katie Rowan Thomson (lacrosse, 2006-09). Each woman will be honored during Syracuse athletic events over the course of the year.

Friday, October 8	6 pm	Field hockey vs. Wake Forest at Coyne Field – Admission is free

Saturday, October 9	8:30 to 11 am	Title IX Panel Discussion (8:30 to 11 am) – Admission is free
	8:30 am	Continental breakfast
	9:30 am	Symposium panel (a discussion on Title IX and Women's Sports, part of a larger weekend celebration of 50 years of Syracuse University Women's Athletics and Title IX. This panel will examine the 50-year impact of Title IX and how that impact will influence and shape the future of women's sports. Panelists include: Dr. Ramona Bell, Professor of Critical Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Humboldt State University Dr. Erin Buzuvis, Professor of Law & Associate Dean/Academic Affairs, Western New England College Dr. Tracey Salisbury, Assoc.
