
De Vries and USA Win Bronze in Chile, Qualify for 2021 Junior World Cup

Syracuse junior Charlotte de Vries was named Top Scorer at the Junior Pan American Championship in Chile while helping the U.S. U-22 National Team earn bronze and qualify for the Junior World Cup in December. De Vries scored five goals and added an assist for 11 points  in four games for Team USA.Â
The United States earned bronze Saturday morning defeating host Chile in a shootout, 3-2. De Vries connected on her attempt bringing the shootout score to 2-1 in favor of Chile. The U.S. converted on their last two attempts while stopping Chile's final three to secure the win.Â
This is the second-straight Junior World Cup USA has qualified for and the third time the U.S. has claimed JPAC bronze (1998 and 2012) since the tournament's inception in 1988. The 2021 women's JWC is set to take place December 5 to 16 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
De Vries will return to the U.S. this weekend and join Syracuse for its Sept. 4 home game against Kent State.Â
