Orange Lose to #6 Duke

DURHAM, N.C.- In a match up that featured the two winningest coaches in NCAA Division I history, #6Â Duke (15-3, 5-2 ACC) used 14 3-pointers to help defeat Syracuse (9-10, 3-5 ACC), 79-59, at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.
Duke's Mike Krzyzewski (1,185 wins) and Syracuse's Jim Boeheim (991 wins), who rank first and second, respectively, in Division I coaching victories, matched wits for the last time in Durham. Krzyzewski has announced his intention to retire at the end of this season.

Jimmy Boeheim and Jesse Edwards scored 12 points each for the Orange. Edwards also contributed nine rebounds and four steals.

Five Duke players scored in double figures and four of those scored 15 points. Wendell Moore Jr., Mark Williams, AJ Griffin and Paolo Banchero make up the four 15-point contributors also scoring five or more 3-point baskets each.

Duke's AJ Griffin put the first points on the board with a 3-pointer and the Blue Devils never trailed in the encounter.

Joseph Girard III broke up Duke's 8-0 start with a jumper in the lane. After the Blue Devils extended their margin to 10, the Orange fought back with a 9-0 run. Edwards had two baskets in the stretch that narrowed the gap to 16-15 with 7:47 left in the first half.
