Orange Snap Demon Deacons Win Streak

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Buddy Boeheim's season-best 30 points led Syracuse to a 94-72 victory against Wake Forest in the Dome in front of the largest crowd in college basketball this season.
A gathering of 23,194 watched the Orange (10-11, 4-6 ACC) rebound from a three-point halftime deficit with an 18-3 run early in the second half. Syracuse never looked back and avenged an overtime loss at Wake Forest (17-5, 6-4) from Jan. 8. The triumph halted the Demon Deacon's four-game win streak.

Buddy Boeheim's output fell one point shy of his career-best effort, tallied against Virginia in the 2021 ACC Tournament. He connected on 12-of-21 from the field, including 6-of-11 3-point tries. His seven assists were also a career high.

Demon Deacons senior Daivien Williamson contributed 27 points after hitting 10-of-16 attempts, including 5-of-8 of his 3-point attempts.Â

With Syracuse trailing, 45-43, the Orange retaliated with an 18-3 stretch keyed by 12 points from Buddy Boeheim. The advantage swelled to as many as 23 before the final outcome was decided.

"I thought this was an incredible win for us all around. They worked together to put themselves in the right situations" said head coach Jim Boeheim. "Our visitor from Milwaukee (Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo were in attendance) talked to the team after the game about how well he thought they played together".
FIRST HALF BATTLE
Syracuse claimed the advantage for nearly five minutes of the first stanza only to be quieted by a tough Wake Forest offense. The Demon Deacons took the lead following 11 unanswered points in a two-minute period. The Orange continued to narrow the score throughout the first half.

Buddy Boeheim's to back-to-back 3-point shots gave Syracuse the 32-31 edge with just over two minutes remaining. Walton Dallas' 3-point play sent the lead back to Wake Forest and the two teams went into the intermission with the Demon Deacons leading, 42-39.

ORANGE TAKE SECOND STANZA
The Orange and the Deacs traded the lead twice before Syracuse pulled ahead following three back-to-back 3-point baskets from Buddy Boeheim. The Orange hit on 23-of-37 (.622) from the field in the second half and nailed five 3-pointers.
Buddy Boeheim had 19 of his 30 points and Cole Swider tallied 13 of his 18 points over the final 20 minutes.
