BALTIMORE – Ten fresh faces for the Syracuse University men's lacrosse team have been named to the Inside Lacrosse/EvoShield Power 100 Freshman Rankings, accounting for one-quarter of the top 20.
Inside Lacrosse released its Power Rankings Tuesday morning, placing five Orange players on the 20-athlete list of five stars, including three in the top 10.
Attackman Joey Spallina was ranked first in the Power 100 Freshman rankings, while Finn Thomson (attack) and Riley Figueiras (defense) were ranked fifth and sixth, respectively. Billy Dwan (defense) and Jimmy McCool (Goalie) were slotted 11th and 20th among the five stars.
Luke Rhoa (midfielder) was ranked 24th and Michael Leo (midfield) was posted 26th in the four-star grouping. Dylan Sageder (LSM) was ranked 38th, Carter Kempney (midfield) slotted 44th and Vinnie Trujillo (SSDM) was 74th.
Syracuse led not only the ACC with its 10 selections, but had the most entries for any program in the list, accounting for one-tenth of the top 100. The Orange led the top 20 as well with five incoming freshmen earning five-star rankings. No other ACC program had more than seven incoming freshmen on the list and only one other league team had more than two inside the top 20.
The Orange head for Baltimore on Sunday to wrap up Fall Ball, taking on host Loyola University Maryland at 11 a.m. and High Point University at 1:30 p.m. Both exhibitions will be at the Ridley Athletic Complex.
